Informational historical website. Featuring handmade linocuts, sketches and animations. An interactive learning experience.
This website began as a way to learn more about the Salem witch trials, and expanded to be a highly stylized interactive website. The site highlights the history of Salem before the trials, as well as the accusors (the “victims of witchcraft”) and the accused (the “witches). The site also discusses the lasting effects and aftermath of the hysteria in Salem. I began by laying the website out, then added linoleum cuts that I carved and printed by hand. I wanted the overall website experience to be eerie and unsettling, so I chose to emulate woodblock printing from the 1600s with my illustrations.
